Pear Blossom and Cherry Blossom after Mandelstam
by Susan Kelly-DeWitt
Pear blossom and cherry blossom argue with me.
Their wisdom is ephemeral but they convince.
Wheels of good fortune, they coalesce;
Milky Ways among galaxies of branches.
Floret light and human light, our atoms
embrace. Filament wicks fire up; blink
alive like splintered sunlight. Anther-lanterns blast
apart. Some truth inside us changes shape,
roots itself elsewhere. Every truth has at least
nine lives, my ananthous bee-soul instructs.
